This is us at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland!

When we got there it just looked like a pile of old rocks, but when we got closer it looked much more like Roman remains!

First we had to climb up a very tall, windy hill. Then we had to go up some stairs into a room. In the room there were glass cases, posters and models of all the things they had found. There were old shoes, pots, bones and even old spoons and bowls. In the middle of the room there was a model of a Roman homestead. On the model were walls, houses, hospitals and of course the great wall.

There were old walls that had bricks in them that were hundreds and thousands of years old!

The funniest bit was when we saw the roman toilets! As you can see in the middle they have 2 tub-like pots, these are for putting the scrub-on- a-stick in. The Romans used the scrub-on-a-stick to clean their bottoms because they didn’t have toilet paper!

Next we went to walk on top of the wall! It was very blowy and VERY,VERY,VERY high up. It must have been really hard for the Romans to invade at a place so high up!

After that we took one last look at the ruins and then we had to go. We climbed back down the hill and got back into the car. We had had a very tiring but exiting day!
THE END

At easter we went to France and went to the Bayeux Tapestry. It was 70 metres long! It had the story of William the Conqueror who fought against Harold to be king. Harold was selfish and put himself king when Edward died but got hit in the eye with an arrow in the battle of Hastings. The battle was October 14th 1066. A long time ago!
This is me and Eleanor at the Bayeux Tapestry in one of Harold's boats.
